Fr. Richard Perfetto
Birthdate: 2 August, 1940
Ordination: 4, June, 1966
I have been a priest of the Archdiocese for 47 years. I’ve served in six parishes in that time: three as an Associate; St. Matthew, Detroit, St. Louis, Mt. Clemens and St. Ephrem, Sterling Heights. My assignments were two years at each. The next three
parishes were as Pastor: St. Hugh, Southgate (15 years); Our Lady of Good Counsel, Plymouth (4 years) and Founding Pastor of Resurrection Parish right here in Canton (20
years). I “retired” in 2010. All that it means is that one doesn’t have to go to meetings anymore or worry about the financial status of a parish. Since “retirement” I have been helping with weekend Masses at St. Anselm in Dearborn Heights plus weekday Masses at St. Kenneth, Plymouth. Many other duties were mine over the course of the years: Vicar of the Southland Vicariate, the Board of Consultors; i.e., financial advisors to the Archbishop and Coordinator of the nine Ryan Senior Homes of the Archdiocese. Current service includes being the Alumni Director of Sacred Heart Major Seminary,
member of the Priests Pension Board of the Archdiocese and my local condo board.
